About the Coffee Farm
This cooperative is unique in that it received funds from the WWF for a multifaceted project over a year to help improve their infrastructure and educate the farmers about working in harmony with the local environment and protecting the Kerinci National Park. Each of the 17 villages has its own small processing site for producing washed coffees which they have been taught. When the local farmer delivers cherry they float and remove immatures. The coffee is then left to ferment over night before then being washed and cleaned and then dried in the small green house patios for 7 – 10 days. After this the coffee is then taken to the main cooperative site where it is stored in plastic bags before being hulled and cleaned for defective beans.
